EPA: 1990 Clean Air Act

EPA: 1990 Clean Air Act (22 min.) Most of us are familiar with large oil spills, hazardous waste, and materials and certainly we understand the need for clean air. This is perhaps EPA's major problem to solve. Clean air is easy to talk about, but difficult to control or make cleaner. Understanding the problem can go a long way in educating people about air quality and why it's so important. The Clean Air Act is the comprehensive Federal law that regulates air emissions from area, stationary, and mobile sources. This law authorizes the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to establish National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS), to protect public health and the environment.

Topics included in this safety video are: the role of the federal government and the role of the states, interstate air pollution, permits, enforcement, deadlines, public participation, smog and other "criteria" air pollutants, carbon monoxide and particulates, 1997 changes to the clean air act, offsets, acid rain, and providing solutions.

Program comes with a CD-ROM of written materials, including test questions and answers. English title also includes PowerPoint presentation.
