Hours of Service for Property Carrying Vehicles
(9 min.) In the fall of 2004, the U.S. Senate passed a law that keeps the existing Hours-of-Service regulation of April 28th, 2003, in effect until September 30th, 2005. The current rule is in effect as of October 1st, 2005, but is expected to be amended. The present rule was challenged and the U.S. Court of Appeal for the D.C. Circuit ruled that the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) did not adequately consider the impact of this rule on driver health.
