DOT HAZMAT General Awareness CD-ROM
Created specifically for the Department of Transportation's HAZMAT regulation on Handling and Transporting Hazardous Materials, these products provide the information necessary to comply with the regulation's "General Awareness" training requirement. (While these products can be used by themselves, they can also be used as companion products to MARCOM's DOT HAZMAT "Safety Training" products).
MARCOM's training products on "DOT HAZMAT General Awareness" focus on employees who handle and transport hazardous materials. The products review a number of topics aimed at making these employees more aware of situations in which they may encounter hazardous chemicals, the nature of the hazards these materials present and how to safely handle hazardous materials. Topics covered in these products include:
- The purpose of DOT hazardous materials regulations in 49 CFR 172.700.
- The definition of "hazardous materials".
- Required employee training.
- Shipping papers.
- 24-hour emergency response telephone numbers.
- "Hazard class" labels and placards.
- Other labels that may indicate materials are hazardous.

- Handling hazardous materials.

Each interactive course is about 30-45 minutes long depending on the topic. Courses are divided into a number of logical sections, each with its own quiz, so information is easily understood... and retained.
Also designed with training managers in mind, courses in the Interactive CD-ROM Training Library include a learning management system (LMS) at no additional cost. Using this system, trainers can define curricula... establish log-in procedures... even set up "pre" and "post" tests. The system also tracks employee activity through a powerful relational database, which can generate a number of informative reports. A database import/export feature also allows information to be transferred to and from databases in other software packages, such as a company's human resource system.
MARCOM's interactive CD-ROM courses and learning management system can be run on standalone computers as well as "hard-wired" local and wide area networks (LANs and WANs).
