A Guide To AHERA Compliance
(12 min.) Asbestos in the last decade, no environmental issue has had impact on schools from both the operational and the financial standpoint. A naturally occurring mineral noted for its strength, durability, and fire resistant qualities. Asbestos was used for many years in a wide variety of products and applications such as insulation materials, building and clothing fire proofing, automotive parts, and mechanical equipment. Typical, asbestos-containing materials include spray-on fireproof installation for walls, ceilings, or for decorative purposes. Thermal insulation for pipes, boilers and heating systems, wall boards, ceiling panels, floor tiles, window putty, roofing felts, automotive brakes and clutches, and woven cloth products used for heat resistance.
