California's Safety Law SB-198
(16 min.) California's Senate Bill 198 represents a change of direction in Cal-OSHA's Compliance efforts and is designed to emphasize accident and injury prevention through effective safety programs and the strict enforcement of safety standards by Cal-OSHA. After these new rules are explained in this program, you may sit back and say to yourself, "This is what we've been doing all along, so what's the big deal?" Many companies are having great success in their safety efforts and they are meeting safety and training standards, so this new law will have little or no impact upon their organization. Sadly to say; however, some companies do not meet the standards or they do not have a formal written plan or program; therefore, this new law will have more of an impact upon these organizations.
Topics covered in this safety video include: Safety Manager, California Labor Code 6401.7(a), monthly inspection checklists, comments and input from employees, Hazard Communications Program, Proposition 65 hazardous materials, emergency chemical spills, and other requirements, Labor Code 6401.7(a) (3), monitoring at the workplace, written plan, qualified personnel trained in CPR and First Aid, training.
