Safety and the Supervisor

(20 min.) All of a sudden your boss says safety is your responsibility. Oh no, not another job. Now you're burdened with accident reports, safety training, making sure employees follow safety rules and wear appropriate personal protective equipment when required. Safety is your responsibility. You're a supervisor. You're responsible for everything your employees do or fail to do, nothing new. The company safety manager or coordinator isn't responsible for safety. The supervisor is the only person having direct control over employees; therefore, the supervisor is absolutely responsible and accountable for safety. Let's take a look at exactly what this responsibility means and basically how safety programs should work.
