Hurricanes, Tornadoes, and Floods
(15 min.) To better prepare yourself for the onset of a natural disaster; you must familiarize yourself with emergency procedures that apply before, during, and after the storm. This program will cover these procedures and provide you with information on what you can do in case of an emergency such as a hurricane, tornado, or flood.
Topics included in this safety video are: begin planning before the season begins, stock a supply of food, water, and emergency supplies, medical first aid kit a battery-operated radio with extra batteries, a flashlight, blankets or sleeping bags, paper plates, bottle openers, can openers, candles, matches, or an oil or kerosene lantern as well as any sanitary items such as toilet paper and a portable toilet, adequate supply of any medication that you take, an extra pair of glasses if you wear them, evacuate if local authorities tell you to do so, if evacuated to an emergency shelter - take along medication, blankets, a portable radio, a change of clothes, and a small supply of food, keep your gas tank full, recommended evacuation route, hurricanes, most deaths attributable to storm surge, definitions of Hurricane Watches and Hurricane Warnings and what actions to take for each, when you return home after a hurricane, tornadoes, definition of Tornado Watch and a Tornado Warning and what to do for each instance, what to do after a tornado has passed, floods, and definition of Flood Watch and Flash Flood Watch.
