Office Safety Basics
(8 min.) The purpose of this program to provide you with the general overview of the safety hazards present in the office and outline steps that you can take to minimize risk.
Topics included in this safety video are: keep your work area neat, clean and organized, watching where you walk, use a proper ladder or step stool, remember to bend your legs and not your back when lifting, if the item is too heavy to lift alone, stop and ask for assistance, when going up or down stairs always hold the handrail, never attempt to carry anything up or down stairs, if you must use equipment such as a paper cutter always exercise caution, keep your hands and fingers out of the cutting path, electrical equipment such as calculators, computers, fans, coffee pots and others must be inspected frequently to make sure they are in proper working order, check the plug to make sure it''s in good condition and check the cord to make sure there are no frays, cracks or exposed wires, if you use chemicals for cleaning or any other purpose, always read the label and follow the manufacturer''s instructions and wear any personal protective equipment that is recommended before use, ergonomics, mini-breaks, safety, and emergency evacuation procedures.
