Topics included in this safety training are: bloodborne pathogens i.e. AIDS, HBV or Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C Virus, HCV definitions and how they are spread, contingency plans for emergency or accident must be considered, prevention techniques, how exposure can occur, Exposure Control Plan, identification process, plan accessibility, personal hygiene, safe work practices, means of prevention through engineering controls, sterilization of instruments, disinfectants, work practices, handling sharps, cleaning up broken glassware, selection of personal protective equipment, good housekeeping, contaminated clothing and laundry, Hepatitis B vaccine, the emergency procedure in the event you experience an exposure incident such as a needlestick, contamination of the mouth, eye, mucous membrane, or other puncture of the skin, fast action, reporting any incident or potential exposure, post-exposure evaluation and follow-up programs, medical records, safety tips on preventative and precautionary measures, Universal Precautions, rules and regulations that apply to preventing exposure to bloodborne pathogens, required information and training, and 14 required elements of the training program.
