Gas Welding Safety

(15 min.) When you're working with gas welding and cutting operations, there are a number of safety procedures to follow. Each company is responsible for developing specific guidelines, policies, and procedures, as a short video training program cannot list all the potential hazards or safety elements. This program is simply a guideline of basic safety measures, designed as safety awareness, but it's not a complete or comprehensive program.

Topics included in this safety video are: welding or cutting area, combustibles, floors, welding temperatures, welding precautions, vapor degreasing operations or spray booths, compressed gas cylinders, valve protection caps, oxygen cylinders, marking, valve and regulator settings, creeping, hoses, color coding of hoses, copper fittings, hooking up cylinders, precautions and procedures when lighting your welding or cutting torch, cracking a cylinder, the material you're welding or cutting, hollow spaces, cavities, or containers, acetylene, chromium, fluoride compounds, zinc, ventilation systems, ultraviolet radiation, infrared radiation, light exposure to the eye, eye protection, and sparks.
