Trucking Safety Orientation

(13 min.) One of the requirements of an effective safety program is to train employees in the General Hazards to which they may be exposed. A safety orientation is the first step in meeting this requirement, but more importantly, it provides the new employee with safety basics and imbeds in the employee's thinking that safety is an important part of their job. The basic hazards of an orientation program include proper clothing, drug and alcohol policy, slips/falls, safe lifting and personal protective equipment. A safety orientation program can also be used to retrain or provide refresher training for experienced employees, or anyone experiencing an accident or injury.
